- Sometimes, work gets in the way of life, and the fun things we used to do are forgotten. Staying involved in music helps us remember our youth and have fun being ourselves and have fun with our children. For parents who once played, the piano can bring back a sense of youth not found in other activities.
- I am so proud of my child when he/she performs at recitals and festivals. MYC has really helped him/her develop confidence and excellent music skills. It has helped my confidence too. My child gets excellent grades on his/her exams.
- My young child told his kindergarten teacher that she was as elegant as Edyth the elk. I laughed so hard !! Only my MYC teacher and the MYC class could truly understand how funny that was!!!
MYC is a multidisciplinary approach to music. Though exposing young children to various composers they learn about history, culture and musical style. This sets the context and framework for true music appreciation.
Tapping out rhythms using simple instruments, a young learner can feel, hear and move to the beat. Vibrant character critters help to decipher the world of the piano keyboard, while finger puppets and props help the student to discover rhythm patterns. What is so elegant is how simple things - like the child's voice, their small hands clapping and tapping, and their bright imaginations help to draw them easily and willingly into the magical world of music, musicianship, performance and music appreciation. Of course, parents lovingly encourage young learners, initially. Though by camaraderie within the small group environment, the young musician develops both self confidence and musical skill, which pave their path for a bright musical future.
