Great Treat for piano practices

Because fingers are very important to MYC students and teachers !! When I have time I make these for my students and they LOVE them ! ( the music parents are always asking me for the recipe).

FINGERS COOKIE

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup icing sugar
1 egg
1 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla
2 - 3/4 cup cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup whole blanched almonds
1 tube red decorator gel

In bowl, beat together butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla; beat in flour, and baking powder.  Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Working with one quarter of the dough at a time and keep remaining dough refrigerated, roll heaping teaspoonful into finger shape. Press almond firmly into one end for nail. Press in center to create knuckle shape. Using pairing knife, make slashes in several places to form knuckle.

Bake on slightly greased baking sheets in 325 F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until pale golden. Let cool for 3 minutes.

Lift up almond, squeeze red decorator gel onto nail bed and press almond back in place, so gel oozes out from underneath. Remove from baking sheets; let cool on racks. Makes about 60 cookies.

Delicious after a good piano practice !!!
